Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Volunteers, who are enlisted under the royally initiated "Jit-Arsa" project, together with officials of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) have decorated areas along the procession route of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s coronation with additional displays of flowers.

The BMA Permanent Secretary Silapasuay Raweesaengsoon said all decorations along the procession route would be in place by May 1.

BMA Permanent Secretary Silpasuay and a team of officials inspected flower installations along the procession route in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district, including Ratchadamnoen Nok, Ratchadamnoen Klang and Ratchadamnoen Nai roads. New flowers have replaced withered flowers in some areas due to hot weather, and additional flowers have been placed in several areas to improve the landscape.

Fresh yellow and white flowers, such as celosia plumosa, marigolds, orchids, and crepe jasmine, are mainly being used to decorate the procession route, as they can withstand the heat for many days and reflect the country’s identity. All flower decorations will be in place by May 1, and the BMA will look after them until May 10.

On this auspicious occasion, the BMA has used a total of 1,760,000 flowers, with more than 300 orchid arrangements and walls of flowers being placed among trees at Phan Fa Lilat, Makkhawan Rangsan, and Phan Phiphop Lila bridges. – NNT/VNA
