Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) has been organising its fourth regional conference on climate change for ASEAN member countries.

TGO’s Climate Change International Technical and Training Center (CITC) is holding the fourth CITC Regional Conference from July 17-19 under the theme "Accelerating The Paris Agreement Implementation Through Climate Finance, Technology And Capacity Building”.

Key topics include how to leverage financial mechanisms, technological developments and capacity building to help ASEAN member countries achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. One of the goals is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20-25 percent by 2030.

Permanent Secretary for Natural Resources and the Environment, Wijarn Simachaya, said the seminar is a good opportunity for Thailand to exchange knowledge and promote regional and international cooperation on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The results of the conference will be used to help agencies under Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment to achieve their goals.

TGO Executive Director, Prasertsuk Chamornmarn, added that Thailand established the CITC at the beginning of last year to support efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement also coincides with Thailand’s reform plan for addressing climate change from 2015-2050.-NNT/VNA
