Thailand issues four Ebola-related announcements

The Thai Ministry of Public Health has issued four announcements in the government gazette that are aimed at preventing any spread of Ebola in Thailand.

Under the announcements, Ebola must be launched as ahazardous disease, any patient with Ebola must lodge a report to police,Ebola is a contagious disease, and Ebola source countries constituterisky areas, said Ministry Permanent Secretary Narong Sahamethaphat.

Theyhave already taken effect, after they were listed on the governmentgazette on August 13. Narong said that the initiative will allow betterscreening of those infected as well as better curbing of the deadlydisease in the event of detection.

Health officials have kept aneye on 79 foreigners who arrived from Sierra Leone , Guinea ,Liberia and Nigeria for the virus. So far, there have been noreports of any suspicious symptoms or any signs of any of them harboringthe disease.-VNA
