Thailand ’s government has decided to lift the state of emergency in the northern province of Lampang and the northeastern provinces of Sakon Nakhon and Roi Et.

The Thai cabinet made the decision at a meeting on July 20 after it found the situation in the provinces was under control, the Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

However, the state of emergency is still in force in the capital city of Bangkok and 15 other provinces as protesters were reported to remain security threats in these localities.

The emergency decree was originally imposed in Bangkok and 23 other provinces on April 7 to control the anti-government “red-shirt” protesters.

On July 6, the Thai government decided to lift the emergency decree in five provinces, but extended it in the others./.
