Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to co-host the 9th Meeting of the Thailand-Myanmar Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) in Nay Pyi Taw early next week. 

During a press conference, Busadee Santipitaks, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai will pay an official visit to Myanmar on August 13-14 at the invitation of the country’s Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin.

On the visit, Minister Don will join his Myanmar counterpart in presiding over the 9th JC Meeting, which will take place on August 14 in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw. 

According to Busadee, both sides plan to discuss the promotion of their natural strategic partnership as well as the prioritization of cooperation projects and their enhancement in all respects. Moreover, the Thai and Myanmar delegates are set to sign an agreement on aviation cooperation and a draft memorandum of understanding on the development of shrimp farms in Rakhine State. 

Minister Don will also attend the presentation of a new classroom building and a multipurpose sports field to the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship School in Pyinmana on the outskirts of Nay Pyi Taw. 

In addition, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson revealed that a seminar for Thai consular officials worldwide will be staged from August 14-17 at the Centara Grand at Central Ladprao Bangkok. High on the agenda is the integration of efforts in the public sector to improve the protection of Thai citizens overseas.-NNT/VNA
