Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Thawatchai Arunyik made theannouncement at the TAT head office, stating that the New Year’scountdown is an excellent means of sharing the country’s touristdestination and culture with tourists traveling to the country duringthe festive season.
The countdown venues will be held in sevenplaces across the nation, including Bangkok , Chiang Mai, ChiangRai, Khon Kaen, Pattaya, Hat Yai, and Phuket.
Furthermore, inorder to accommodate the demand of those seeking a milder and moretranquil side of the celebration, there will also be activities gearedtowards the Buddhist travelers. They will include an overnight prayingceremony to welcome the New Year, which will be held at ChulalongkornRatchawittayalai in Ayutthaya province, and merit making at ninetemples in the Bangkok area.-VNA
