Thai police on February 10 arrested Sonthiyarn Chuenruethai-naitham, a leader of the anti-government protest camp.

According to the Bangkok Post, Sonthiyarn is the owner of the T-News agency and a key member of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC).

He was the first PDRC leader to be arrested after 19 warrants were issued by the Thai Criminal Court, including one for the movement’s main leader Suthep Thaugsuban. They are wanted by the Department of Special Investigation for allegedly violating the country’s current emergency decree.

The Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order is also seeking arrest warrants against 39 other PDRC leaders on the same charge.

In late January, the Thai Government declared a state of emergency to ensure order in Bangkok and neighbouring areas on the threshold of the February 2 election.-VNA
