Hanoi (VNA) – One police officer was killed and another was wounded in a bomb blast in Thailand’s southern province of Yala on November 21.

According to investigation agencies, a bomb was planted under a traffic sign in Saikaew village of Yala province and was activated when police came to the area.

The police said the bomb was activated by radio waves, but the criminal has yet to be determined.

The prolonged religious conflicts in more than 10 years have provoked violence in the Thai southern provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla. Attacks in the region have killed about 6,600 people so far, mainly civilians.-VNA.
