Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand's Ministry of Commerce is currently promoting the production of premium-grade durians, longans and mangosteens, in order to increase their value in local and international markets.

Deputy Commerce Minister Sonthirat Sonthijirawong said that the ministry worked with the Thai Chamber of Commerce to come up with a strategy to elevate the quality of these fruits and set premium pricing.

Six subcommittees have been established to expedite the plan, which involves developing a network of related parties to oversee quality control, production, logistics, and undertake private sector consultation, and marketing.

These subcommittees have also been tasked with compiling guidelines for improving produce quality and pricing of local fruit for the consideration of the Kingdom’s Fruit Board, before the next harvest season arrives.-VNA
