Bangkok (VNA) – Small- and medium-sized enterprises of Thailand contributed five percent of the nation’s gross domestic products (GDP) in the first quarter of this year, up 3.2 percent year on year.

The figure was released in the recent joint report of the Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP) and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand.

According to the report, the two agencies have provided support for over 700 SMEs via a series of programmes to enhance their competence.

The programmes aim to strengthen the young entrepreneurs and improve SMEs to be well-prepared for the ASEAN Economic Community.

OSMEP targets to help SMEs contribute 50 percent of the nation’s GDP in 2021.-VNA
