The number of visitor arrival to Thailand from Europe and Africa continued growing in the first half of the year with 3.7 percent and 4-5 percent, respectively, according to the Thai Tourism Authority report.

Foreign travellers seemed to still like the country for its natural tourist destinations, cultures and people despite its instabilities in the past months, Deputy Governor Juthaporn Rerngronasa of the organisation was quoted by MCOT online news as saying.

Russians sized the lion's share of visitors from Europe , followed by French, Britons and Germans who have contributed to the gradually growing numbers.

Many countries have already lifted their warnings and the number of arrivals may improve in the high season. However, visitors from the US and the Middle East dropped by 4 percent and 9 percent, respectively.

Thailand will launch a campaign to promote the country's image among international tourists and tour operators, Juthaporn disclosed. These efforts include a visit by senior executives of about 20 cruise companies in America and Europe to survey attractions and ports in Thailand in this November.-VNA
