Bangkok (VNA) – The Government of Thailand planned to spend 98.8 billion THB (3 billion USD) in 2017 developing transport infrastructure with three motorways and 10 electric train projects. 

Of the sum, 15 billion THB will be used to build three motorways from Bang Pa In to Nakhon Rachasima, Bang Yai to Kanchanaburi and Pattaya to Map Ta Phut. 

Another 23.8 billion THB (690 million USD) will be earmarked for building a 555 km highway and 7.26 billion THB (21 million USD) will be allocated for the construction of ten electric train routes in Bangkok. 

About 3.3 billion THB (10 million USD) will be spent on basic infrastructure such as hospitals, drainage system and other public works to serve the development of agriculture, industry, logistics and tourism in ten special economic zones of ten provinces. 

With these megaprojects, the Federation of Thai Industries forecast that the country’s demand for steel and iron will increase about 6-7 percent in 2017.-VNA
