The Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) will launch a road tour from Tak province to Myanmar via a new road funded by the Thai government.

A caravan is scheduled to go through several cities of historical significance in both countries from December 17-20, according to the Tak Tourism Business Association. With this tour, Tak could potentially become a gateway to international tourism, it added.

The 45-kilometer road, also known as the AH1, was built to reduce travel time from the Thai province to Yangon of Myanmar.

Construction of the road was aimed at boosting tourism between Thailand and Myanmar ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community.-NNT/VNA
