Thailand to sell at least 100,000 tonnes of rice via auction

The Thai Commerce Ministry expects to clear at least 100,000 tonnes of stockpiled rice via the 3rd auction through Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand (AFET).

According to Deputy CommerceMinister Yanyong Puangrach, additional eight packed rice producers andrelated entrepreneurs have shown interest in the auction of the 150,000tonnes of pledged Jasmine and white rice.

However, the averagebidding prices for Jasmine and white rice have fallen by 1-2.30 THB perkilogramme, and 1.78 THB per kilogramme respectively, he stated.

As many as 92,000 tonnes of rice were sold during the second round of bidding.-VNA
