Thailand’s tourism sector will launch a special promotion programme between July and September in a bid to get visitors back to the country.

Under the 450 million THB (15 million USD) programme, package tours with free accommodation, food and travel for between two and three days will be offered to both domestic and foreign tourists.

The programme will benefit around 100,000 people.

The sector has also asked the military administration to take more actions to help the country rebuild its image after tourists’ confidence was seriously impacted by the coup.

Thailand has had to revise down its target for this year from 28.6 million to 25 million visitors.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is planning to invite foreign journalists over to report on the improved situation, with up to 1,000 reporters to be asked to come.

The country’s hospitality sector is also launching special promotion campaigns with discounts of up to 80 percent in a bid to bring back customers.-VNA
