Narathiwat (NNT/VNA) – The Government Complex of southern Narathiwat province has hosted a Zebra Dove singing contest for a Royal Trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

The competition was held in the 6th Cycle Chalerm Prakiat Park in front of the Narathiwat Government Complex, attracting bird handlers from across the region as well as Malaysia and Singapore competitors.

A total 1,248 birds were entered into the contest, the highest number yet, almost maxing out an available 1,300 perches prepared for entries.

The competition is divided into four categories: alto, tenor, soprano and rising star with each winner to receive a royal trophy.

The contest has helped stimulate the local economy by serving as a gathering place for bird feed and equipment sellers as well as vendors of other goods for spectators.-VNA
