Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai automotive industry enjoyed an 11.87 percent rise in vehicle production last month, thanks to higher exports of sedans and pickup trucks.
The Spokesman of the Federal of Thai Industries' (FTI) Automotive Industry Club, Surapong Paisitpatanapong, said factories in Thailand produced 134,779 vehicles in April 2018, an 11.87 percent increase year-on-year.
Surapong said 73,108 vehicles from the April production output were manufactured for exports, 11.67 percent higher than the previous year, due to the increasing demand for sedans and pickup trucks. The production output for domestic purchases is at 61,671 vehicles, which is 12.11 percent more than last year.
The Spokesman said this growth of manufacturing output and export signals the recovery of the automotive industry in Thailand, which is expected to produce more than 2 million vehicles this year.-VNA
