Hanoi (VNA) - The Thai consumer confidence index fell to 73.9 in July, the lowest level in the last seven months.

According to a report from the Centre for Economic Forecast under the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Confidence Index also declined to 62.2, from 63.3, while the employment confidence index dropped to 69.1 from 70 in June.

There was a slight increase in agricultural product prices, while purchasing power of Thai people remained low.

The revenue confidence index also fell to 90.4 from 91.5.

The report blamed the decline on historic floods in the northeast of the nation and suggested the government to increase public expenditure to stimulate the economy.-VNA
