Bangkok (VNA) - The Government of Thailand has confirmed that the general election will be organised in accordance with the national reform roadmap.

The election date will be set after four relevant organic laws are completed and take effect, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan told the press on October 3.

The country’s government is determined to hold the general election and will allow resumption of political activities as previously committed, he reiterated.

Meanwhile, the same day, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha informed US President Donald Trump during his visit to the US that the organisation of the general election will be announced in 2018.

The Government of Thailand will abide by its roadmap of democracy and return power to its people in line with international standards, the Thai PM said, adding that the general election will take place within 150 days since the announcement.-VNA
