Thailand’s export growth target remains at 7-7.5 percent

The Thai Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has insisted that the country's export growth will remain at 7-7.5 percent this year.

According to DITP Director General Srirat Rastapana, the department will, in September, invite all 62 commercial attaches around the world to a meeting, during which the Thai economic situation for the rest of the year will be assessed and strategies and measures to be used in boosting the export sector will be revealed.

At this initial stage, the director said the country’s 2013 export growth anticipation will remain at 7-7.5 percent, whereas the targeted export value will be around 245-246 billion USD.

She further revealed that for the rest of the year, the department is planning to boost the export industry through more than 200 activities such as roadshows in foreign countries and stages for business negotiations.

She said as for 2014, the DITP aims for a continued export growth, adding that the current world economic situation has both positive and negative sides, and Thailand will have to adjust its strategies to suit the situation.-VNA/NNT
