Bangkok (VNA) Thailand’s exports have risen to the highest level in 11 years because of an increase in global demand, according to the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit.

The commerce minister said that the export of Thai commodities jumped 41.6 percent in May and 43.8 percent in June year-on-year.

The shipment of automobiles and automotive parts accounted for a 78.5 percent increase and that of computers and parts accounted for a 21.5 percent rise in June.

Last month, the export of Thai goods to the European Union rose by 47 percent, that to China by 42 percent, and that to the United States by 41 percent, compared to the same period last year.

The Southeast Asian nation’s exports in the first half of this year have increased 15.53 percent year-on-year while imports have increased 26.15 percent, resulting in a trade surplus of 2.44 billion USD./.
