Thailand’s caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on March 6 reiterated the Government’s unity with the military.

Responding to reporters’ questions on relations with the country’s armed forces, PM Yingluck said that she recently held talks with military leaders in order to avoid any misunderstandings and potential violence.

She added that the latest meeting with Army Chief Prayut Chan-ocha on March 5 was unrelated to rumours about a deepening rift between the Government and the military that could lead to a coup.

The Thai leader also refused to say how long the political turmoil is likely to last, stating that all sides should take part in a process to bring stability to the country and move towards reform.

Prayut asserted that the military remains neutral in the current political situation and urged the conflicting parties find a solution instead of clashing.-VNA
