Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Royal Thai Army Command Centre has included mine disarmament in this year’s Cobra Gold exercises, looking to exchange knowledge as well as technology for the operation.

Director of the Mine Action Centre Lt Gen Sittipol Nimnual joined Commander of the US Directorate of Logistics Col Mora Hannigan in inspecting troops taking part in Cobra Gold 2019’s mine sweeping and disarmament exercise in Ubon Ratchathani.

He presided over the Thai Army’s 1st Army Engineering Corps, 6th Army Engineering Corps and 6th Infantry Division to launch the operation.

The operation deals with mines along the Thai border and seeks to foster ties between the two militaries while also providing them knowledge about mine clearance.

Thailand is looking to rid its territory of mines by the year 2023.-NNT/VNA
