Located on the peaceful Thu Bon river of Quang Nam province, Thanh Ha pottery village is a traditional craft village, which was established more than 500 years old.

With talented hands and enthusiastic hearts, potters here still make impressive pottery products.

Experiencing many ups and downs in history, Thanh Ha pottery village had times when its traditional craft ceased to develop. But with enthusiasm and love for the village, people here have decided to rebuild their traditional craft.

Thanh Ha’s potters make earthenware by hand and do not use any kind of mold. Potters usually work in pairs, one standing with hands kneading the clay and a foot kicking the turntable. The other one sits beside the turntable to make and fine-tune the clay product.

Visiting Thanh Ha pottery village, tourists will see the whole process of creating earthenware. From a block of clay, through the hands of artisans, it changes its shape and becomes a soulful product. And tourists will have a chance to make their earthenwares.

To continue the profession that was passed down from their ancestors, potters in the village still keep their furnace burning. They also pass down their knowledge and cultural values, which must never be lost, to the next generation

Earthenwares like these things all contain the long-standing culture of the land. It can be said that Thanh Ha pottery village has become a living museum, an invaluable set of documents on traditional pottery, not only of Hoi An but also of the Vietnamese people./.
