Northern central Thanh Hoa province is speeding up preparations for “Japan Cultural Days in Thanh Hoa” programme, which is part of a series of events to kick off the 2015 National Tourism Year.

The programme will be held between January 6 and 9 in Lam Son Theater.

Thanh Hoa was selected to host the National Tourism Year which is expected to help it earn 158.6 million USD from 5 – 5.5 million domestic and foreign travellers this year.

Over the past five years, the locality has been putting great effort to protect its key tourist attractions.

Some 400 billion VND (18.7 million USD) was invested to preserve and maintain over 200 relic sites, including World Cultural Heritage - Citadel of the Ho Dynasty in Vinh Loc district, Lam Kinh National Special Relic in Tho Xuan district, Ham Rong Culture Tourism Area in Thanh Hoa city, Cam Luong god fish stream in Cam Thuy district and Truong Le Mountain ecotourism zone.

The province has not only developed signature tours to its cultural and historical sites as well as local festivals, for instance, Lam Kinh Festival, Sam Son Beach Festival and Ba Trieu Temple Festival, but also cooperated with neighbouring Ninh Binh province to create new tours that link with its partner’s popular destinations – Bai Dinh Pagoda and Trang An ecotourism complex.

Vietnam’s National Tourism Year 2015 will be launched in March with the theme “Connecting World Heritage”.

The event will run throughout the year across Thanh Hoa province and also attract the participation of 15 cities and provinces that house world heritage, such as Hanoi capital and Phu Tho and Quang Ninh provinces.-VNA
