Hanoi (VNA) - Alongside signing better local players, V.League 1 side FLC Thanh Hoa are bringing in a raft of foreign players on trial to prepare for the football season next year.
According to FLC Thanh Hoa Chairman Doan Van Phuong, Thanh Hoa will trial some 30 foreign footballers.
Phuong said the club also will sign five new contracts with local players on December 23, with strengthening the defence a priority.
FLC Thanh Hoa, the V.League runners-up, will represent Vietnam in the Asian Football Confederation Champions League 2018, with league winners Quang Nam ineligible due to a lack of youth teams.
The team will be allowed to register a maximum of five foreign players.
Several days ago, the team announced the signing of their new coach, Marian Mihail.
The 59-year-old is a former Romanian national player who played professionally for 17 years and has coached for the last 21.
He replaces Serbian Ljupko Petrović, who coached the Vietnamese side for almost a year.-VNA
