On the afternoon of February 19th, a delegation of Vietnamese police officers returned to their home country after a rescue and relief mission for the earthquake victims in Turkey.
Another rescue team from the Vietnamese People's Army stayed behind to continue searching for people in distress and providing necessary assistance.
Earlier, in the cities of Antakya (Hatay province) and Adiyaman (Adiyaman province), Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and People's Army's rescue teams tirelessly combed through numerous collapsed sites, aiding in the evacuation of local residents, distributing tens of tons of food aid.
They also offered shelter, medical treatment, and medication to those who were sick or injured.
"The achievements of the Vietnamese rescue team in Turkey are a gift, a manifestation of the compassion of a nation that understands the value of assistance from other countries," commented Saadi Salama, the Palestinian Ambassador to Vietnam and Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam.
He drew a comparison between this spirit and the Vietnamese proverb "One piece of food when hungry is equal to a bundle when full," and commended Vietnam's endeavors and contributions to world peace, particularly in light of the Syrian Palestinian community that has suffered greatly as a result of this calamity.
"This is a spirit of responsibility that holds great significance and deserves high praise. We too are victims of the earthquake, with over 107 Palestinian casualties, mostly in the north of Syria. Therefore, the efforts of the Vietnamese and Palestinian rescue team reflect the compassion of countries that have been victims of war and occupation. Currently, we are playing a modest but meaningful role, as the Vietnamese say, "One piece of food when hungry is equal to a bundle when full"./.
