The 14th session of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)’s Theory Council opened in Hanoi on January 16 under the chair of the council’s head Dinh The Huynh.

In his opening speech, Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the CPVCC and head of its Commission for Popularisation and Education urged the participants to learn from both achievements and shortcomings to provide better practical consultancy to the Party’s Politburo, Secretariat and Central Committee.

Reports presented at the event said that last year, the council fulfilled its role as a standing body of the Steering Committee on reviewing the 30-year renewal process as well as actively engaged in drafting documents to be submitted to the 12th National Party Congress.

It actively participated in scientific research on political theories, in protecting the Party’s viewpoints and policies and in enhancing international cooperation in theoretical study among other important tasks.

In 2015, the council will strive to complete its summary report on a number of theoretical and practical issues during 30 years of renewal, and provide consultancy for completing draft documents which will be submitted to the Party’s 12th Congress.

Dialogues between the council with those, who have different or dissimilar opinions to the Party’s guidelines will be promoted.

Simultaneously, efforts to protect the Party’s ideology, guidelines, and the State’s Constitution and law and reject the wrongful will be also pushed.

At the session, participants proposed a plan to innovate and improve the council’s management mechanism, and discussed contents of the political theory research programme for the next tenure (2016-2020).-VNA
