Third 10+3 Media Cooperation Forum opens

More than 100 guests from Chinese ministries, sectors, press agencies and Tianjin authorities joined representatives from news agencies and newspapers of ASEAN member nations, the Republic of Korea and Japan, at the forum.

Vietnamese envoy to China Nguyen Vinh Quang and representatives of the Vietnam News Agency and the Nhan Dan (People’s) daily newspaper also attended the forum, themed “‘Experience 2010 Shanghai Expo, Jointly Build an East Asian Family.”

Following the opening ceremony, participants presented speeches regarding three major topics of the forum: Deepening mutual beneficial cooperation, seeking for regional development; Gathering at the expo, witnessing diverse and rich cultures; and Cooperating in reporting on the expo, sharing the Asian grand event.

In his presentation, Quang said the Shanghai World Expo that is scheduled to begin on May 1 will be a big event in the world, drawing the attention of billions of people.

The expo will serve as an opportunity for nations around the globe study each other’s cultures, scientific and technological advances, and increase mutual understanding and trust, thereby building more civilised and better lives, he said.

Later on the day, representatives from press agencies attended a seminar, during which they discussed issues related to communications and the possibility of cooperation in this field among nations./.
