Hanoi (VNA) - German singer-composer-producer Thomas Anders, part of the duo Modern Talking, a famous European pop band from the 80s, will perform in Hanoi on November 26.

The one-night concert, which will give fans the chance to enjoy all the band’s hits, will be held at My Dinh National Convention Hall.

Formed in 1984, Modern Talking became one of the most famous pop bands in Germany and Europe in the 1980s. The band’s two members, Anders and Dieter Bohlen, became immensely popular in early 1985 with their first single, You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul, which reigned the Top 10 in 35 countries.

The track was followed by another hit, You Can Win If You Want, which was released in mid-1985 from their debut album The 1st Album. It was certified as a Platinum album in Germany for selling over 500,000 copies.

More hits followed, including Cheri, Cheri Lady, and Brother Louie, and Modern Talking became an international sensation.

The duo split up a few years later, in 1987, and reunited more than a decade later, in the beginning of 1998, to considerable success. Their comeback album Back for Good, which had four new tracks and all of their previous hits remixed with modern techniques, stayed at the No.1 spot in Germany for five consecutive weeks and topped the charts in 15 countries. Three million albums were sold in Europe, winning the duo the Best Selling German Band honour at the World Music Awards the same year. The next album Alone also shot up to the top of the charts in Germany; more than one million copies were sold in Europe alone.

The concert is being brought to Hanoi by the IB Group, the producer of last week’s concert featuring Boney M and Chris Norman.-VNA
