The ART 72 aircraft, which took off from Hanoi in the early morning, landed at Dong Hoi Airport at 11:35 on October 13.
Later, a convoy carrying the coffin departed to General Giap’s final resting place in Vung Chua – Yen Island area, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district.
Thousands of mourners lined along the 80km road connecting Dong Hoi Airport to his final resting place to bid their farewell.
Earlier, mourners lined the streets of Hanoi as a gun carriage pulled the flag-draped coffin of General Giap slowly from the national morgue through the streets of Hanoi to the Noi Bai airport, from where he flown to Quang Binh province for the burial service.-VNA
