Luu Thi Huong, one of the Vietnamese survivors, said that the fire broke out at midnight while five Vietnamese, one Malaysian and one Bangladeshi were sleeping in the factory’s loft.
The Vietnamese victims included Ma Van Man, 26 from Lang Son province, Dao Van Kien, 28, from Bac Giang province and Nguyen Thi Nhung, 35, from Thai Nguyen province.
According to Trinh Vinh Quang, a Counsellor for the Vietnamese Embassy
in Malaysia, the embassy has contacted the local authorities and
Gasofa, which owns the factory, to ascertain the exact details of the
incident but has still not received any official response from Malaysian
officials or the factory owner./.
