The state-run Thua Thien- Hue Water Supply and Construction Company (HueWACO) and Japan ’s Yokohama Waterworks Bureau celebrated their decade-long cooperation at a ceremony in Hue city on September 6.

During the past 10 years, the Japanese company has sent experts and assisted the central city of Hue to implement its water supply projects.

Notably, the Bureau funded a project to develop human resources in Vietnam ’s central region from 2007 to 2013 with a total amount of 4.6 million USD.

So far, 17 Japanese experts have been sent to Hue to transfer water supply technology, while 27 staff from HueWCACO have been trained in Japan.

According to Kazunari Doi, General Director of the Yokohama Waterworks Bureau, the cooperation with HueWACO is one of many relationships that reflect the growing all-round ties between Vietnam and Japan.

The cooperation has also helped enhance water supply management capacity for Thua Thien Hue province, contributing to fueling the cooperation between the province and Japanese partners, he said.

With the assistance of the Yokohama Waterworks Bureau, HueWACO has recorded a number of achievements in improving water quality, water supply system management, personnel training and its service quality.

Notably, the company has replaced and upgraded more than 100 kilometres of water pipes and cleaned all its pipe systems using advanced technology.-VNA
