Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue expects to mobilised 3.21 trillion VND (138 million USD), including 260 billion VND (11.18 million USD) from businesses and the community, for the new-style rural area building programme.

According to Pham Quyen, deputy head of the Office of the National Target Programme for New-Style Rural Area Building of Thua Thien-Hue, the province has involved the community in the work by working with organisations, businesses and citizens.

Central and provincial funds for the work have been used effectively and transparently, creating consensus among the community, he said.

The province has built middle-term plans integrated with other programmes and projects in the localities, while using public-private partnerships to attract investment in some areas such as the environment.

Notably, since 2017, Dong Lam cement company has helped the province build more than 130 cement roads with total length of nearly 30km, along with a canal system.

In the future, the province will strengthen the application of special mechanisms for new-style rural building, while supervising and evaluating the implementation of policies for timely adjustments, especially those to support production and attract investment in agriculture and rural area.

Since 2011, Thua Thien-Hue has mobilised more than 5.11 trillion VND, including 296 billion VND from businesses and 750 billion from the community, for the programme.

So far, 44 communes have completed all 19 criteria of the programme, reaching 42.3 percent. In 2018 alone, the province has 14 communes recognised as new-style rural areas. As of the middle of 2019, the average completed criteria was 16.3 per commune.-VNA
