Authorities of Vietnam’s central Thua Thien Hue province and the Lao neighbor, Savannakhet, have agreed to continue with cooperation in a wide range of fields.

During their talks in the city of Hue on August 7, Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao said that his province is focusing on upgrading infrastructure, encompassing highways in the East-West economic development corridor, Chan May port, and trade border gates with Lao localities.

He suggested the two provinces strengthen investment cooperation to spur economic development in the East-West economic corridor, launch cultural exchanges, along with promoting link in education-training and technical assistance between universities and colleges.

In response, Secretary of the Savannakhet provincial Party Committee Xuphan Keomixay proposed Thua Thien-Hue encouraging investments in industry, trade and tourism in Savannakhet.

The two leaders agreed to facilitate investments of entrepreneurs of both sides and direct local authorities to promptly realise reached cooperative terms.

At the talks, they reviewed the collaboration under the memorandum of understanding signed in 2011.-VNA
