Top Vietnamese player Nguyen Tien Minh has reclaimed his ninth position in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings after seven weeks stuck at number ten.

His excellent performance to win all his men’s singles matches at the recent Surdiman Cup contributed to his rise in the rankings and helped the Vietnamese team enter the Group 2 round of the tournament, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) website.

He also played a key role in the Ho Chi Minh City club successfully defending its National Championship title by defeating Hanoi in the final match.

Minh is scheduled to compete in the Djarum Open in Indonesia from June 10-16, where he is unseeded and must face World No.3 Du Pengyu from China in the first match.

Despite having won two their previous confrontations, Minh has little chance to qualify for the following rounds.-VNA
