Top leaders pay tribute to former State President

At the same time as the ceremony in Ho Chi Minh Cityon Sept. 10 and 11, ceremonies to commemorate Vo Chi Cong are also heldat the International Convention Centre in Hanoi and in Quang Namprovince, his homeland.

A solemn commemoration ceremony will be held on the early morning of Sept. 12 at the Thong Nhat Hall.

VoChi Cong (real name Vo Toan), who was also former Chairman of theNational Defence Council and former Deputy Prime Minister, died on Sept.8 at the age of 99.

Vo Chi Cong, born in Tam Xuan commune, TamKy district, Quang Nam-Da Nang province (now Quang Nam province) died ofold age and a serious illness at Thong Nhat hospital in Ho Chi MinhCity.

Vo Chi Cong was also a former Politburo member, formerParty Central Committee Secretary, former advisor to the Party CentralCommittee and a deputy to the National Assembly, 6th, 7th and 8thtenures.

He was conferred with the Golden Star Order by the Partyand State and the 70-year Party badge and many noble orders andmedals./.

Top Vietnamese leader To Lam proposed that the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Russia continue to play their role in improving a favourable legal framework for bilateral cooperation; and strengthen oversight of and urge the implementation of agreements reached by the senior leaders and Governments of the two countries, thereby helping translate political commitments into concrete programmes, projects and cooperation outcomes.

Vietnam, Russia promote defence cooperation

In order for bilateral defence ties to truly match its role as a strategic pillar of the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new period, the two sides agreed to focus on promoting several key areas, including delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, particularly high-level one; maintaining effective defence strategic consultation and dialogue mechanisms; training; and United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Vietnam, Mongolia work to deepen bilateral ties in substantive, effective, sustainable manner

This is the second visit by a top Vietnamese legislator to Mongolia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1954, and the first official visit by NA President Man to Mongolia in his capacity.
