Vietnamese and Japanese legislatures have agreed to boost cooperation in the time to come, helping raise the efficiency of the Vietnam–Japan strategic partnership in politics, diplomacy, economics and socio-culture.

During his visit on December 6, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung informed Emperor of Japan Akihito of the outcomes of talks with the President of the House of Councillors, Hirata Kenji, which had recently taken place in Tokyo.

Hung added that the two sides had agreed to enhance the exchange of visits, especially between the two countries’ high-ranking leaders.

He said the Vietnamese State, National Assembly and Government would like to welcome the Japanese Emperor and Empress to Vietnam on the occasion of the 2013 Vietnam–Japan Friendship Year and the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.

Thanking Japan for maintaining official development assistance to Vietnam, Hung affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and will further inspect and supervise the use of the funds to ensure efficiency.

Akihito said he believes Hung’s visit to Japan will actively contribute to further deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries in a more comprehensive manner.

He said he hopes the two sides will successfully hold the Vietnam–Japan Friendship Year and the 40 th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties in 2013.
