The Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Sinh Hung, has urged both Vietnam and Cuba’s legislative bodies to continue exchanging delegations at every level to increase mutual understanding and share their experiences in legislation and supervision.

While speaking with visiting the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s (CPC) Central Committee and President of the State Council and Council of Ministers, Raul Castro, in Hanoi on July 9, Hung announced that Vietnam ’s National Assembly has set up a Vietnamese-Cuban Friendship Parliamentarians Group.

He said he believes that the visit will strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Vietnam is delighted by the great achievements Cuba has recorded in its struggle for national independence and national sovereignty, as well as the cause of socialist construction, especially the success of the sixth Congress of the CPC, said Hung.

He said that under the leadership of the CPC, the Cuban people will overcome every difficulty and challenge to reap more glorious victories in their revolutionary cause.

Raul Castro also recalled his fond memories of late President Ho Chi Minh from more than 40 years ago.

He confirmed that the Cuban Party, State and people are always grateful to the Vietnamese people for their friendship and support during their struggles for national independence, as well as during the present process of national construction and development.

He praised Vietnam ’s achievements during the renewal process, saying that the country now plays an increasingly important role and position in the region and the world.

Both leaders discussed international issues of mutual concern and their experiences in building State apparatus and legislation.
