Top sprinter Vu Thi Huong has efficiently recovered from recent injury to compete in the women's 100 and 200m at the Southeast Asian Games next week.
Huong, who suffered a stretched thigh muscle during a six-month training stint in Germany , regained her top form by clocking a time of 11.50 seconds at the Mekong Delta Athletics Championship last month.
The athlete has managed to win golds in her favourite event since 2005.
"I feel confident in competing for a gold medal at the SEA Games in Indonesia this week," she confirmed.
"Having spent the last two months recovering I'm eager to get back on track. I expect a challenge though, especially from the Thai sprinters."
The 25-year-old won a silver medal in the 200m and a bronze in the 100m at the Asian Games in Guangzhou last year.
HCM City-born Truong Thanh Hang, who won two Asian Games silver medals in the 1,500m and 800m events alongside a clutch of gold medals at the Asian Athletics Championships in Japan and the Borsig Track and Field Tournament in Germany , also feels positive about the upcoming SEA Games.
Hang and her boyfriend Nguyen Dinh Cuong, who will be a medal contender in the men's 800m and 1,500m, have their sights firmly set on the largest regional sporting event.
The national team will be bolstered by the addition of Thanh Hoa pole-vaulter Le Thi Phuong who beat her own national record with a new height of 4.15m at the national championships in September.
The event will be held in Palembang , Indonesia from Nov.12-16./.
