Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 23 asked relevantagencies to translate determination into tougher actions in fightingsmuggling and trade frauds.
He assigned theMinistry of Public Security to promptly set up an anti-smugglingdepartment to aid the work, which is also intended to deal with thecover of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit production by theinsiders.
Several serious cases of smuggling, tradefraud, and counterfeit production were left uncovered in recent time,he noted, asking authorised forces in border and inland areas to holdresponsible.
Phuc, who is head of the National SteeringCommittee on Prevention and Control of Smuggling, Trade Fraud andCounterfeit Goods, pointed out that unaddressed smuggling, trade fraudand fake goods cause bad impacts on the economy as well associo-economic development management.
He stressedthe need for the involvement of the entire political system, ministries,sectors and localities in prevention work.
He alsoasked the steering committee to intensify communications to raise publicawareness of smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods prevention andcontrol.
In the first quarter of 2015, authorisedforces detected nearly 50,000 violated cases, retrieving around 3trillion VND in tax.
They also started legal proceeds against over 430 violators involved in 351 cases.-VNA
