The Vietnam Women’s Union Tra Vinh province chapter launched its 2014 vocational programme for local poor women on February 10.

It is part of the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) project to support vocational training and job generation for women during the 2010-2015 period.

Under the programme, the province will be provided with 300 VND million (14,000 USD) to organise 10 training classes for almost 300 local people, who are poor and Khmer ethnic women.

The programme was successfully implemented in the province last year. Twenty-nine 29 vocational training courses were provided free of charge for 727 poor and Khmer ethnic women thanks to local and VWU funds worth 930 million VND (43,000 USD).

The trainees also were placed in local businesses and manufacturers after completing the courses.-VNA
