Trade exchange at the Cha Lo International Border Gate in central Quang Binh province has been thriving with the highest recorded import-export turnover of 1.4 billion USD since the beginning of the year, a 3.5-fold increase against last year’s figure.

According to head of the Quang Binh Department of Customs Hoang Van Hien, the department constantly raises the effectiveness of its administrative management activities and mobilises more customs officers to work overtime, in order to accelerate customs clearance at the border gate.

The growing trade activities are also attributed to the drastic reform of administrative formalities as well as the application of e-custom services in carrying out customs procedures, better meeting businesses and people’s demands.

Moreover, the growth in trade exchange results from the border gate’s location in the East-West Economic Corridor, which connects Laos , Thailand and Vietnam . The route offers a short distance to Vung Ang Port in Ha Tinh province and Hon La Port in Quang Binh province.

The volume of goods passing through the border gate has topped 1.55 million tonnes this year, generating nearly 200 billion VND (9.47 million USD) from tax collection.-VNA
