Traditional house inaugurated to honour healthcare staff

Vietnam’s healthcare sector history has been chronicled and featured in a respected space established within the Hanoi University of Pharmacy, which was inaugurated on February 27, marking the 60th ceremony of the Vietnamese Doctors’ Day (February 27, 1955-2015).

Speaking at the ceremony, Health Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Longstressed the importance for generations of healthcare staffers to learnabout the tradition and history of their career.

In the traditional house, there are intact items related to the latePresident Ho Chi Minh and the ex and former Health Ministers, as well asa number of historic documents and images recording the sector’s growththrough various historical stages.

The place is set to become a museum of Vietnam medicines and pharmacy, Long said.

According to Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Vietnam has beenlauded by the international community for its broad health care networkproviding easy access to medical services, the application of medicaladvances and its expanded immunisation programme.

Vietnamese doctors have also successfully mastered advancedtechnologies in endoscopic surgery, viscera transplantation and stemcell use.

In the future, thehealth sector targets the application of advanced technologies in localhospitals. Those technologies are currently being transferred toprovincial hospitals to elevate their standard of care.-VNA

Brain-dead organ donor helps save six lives

Within 24 hours, the process of receiving the donated liver, two kidneys, two corneas, and skin to conducte transplantation for six patients was completed. The last surgery ended at 8:00 pm on May 3.
