Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 99 people and injured 127 others across Vietnam from April 30 to May 3, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

This year, Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) were joined with the weekend to make up a five-day holiday.

Within the first four days, there were 189 road accidents. Meanwhile, four railway accidents reportedly killed four people.

At the same time, police handled more than 34,400 traffic violations and collected fines totalling 17 billion VND (809,500 USD).

On May 3 alone, 26 people died and 39 were injured in 59 traffic accidents nationwide.-VNA
