Da Nang (VNA) – A training programme on management of health for workers at workplaces is underway in the central city of Da Nang from May 5-7, attracting medical workers from preventive medical centres in 24 provinces and cities.
The programme was co-organised by the Health Ministry’s Health Environment Management Agency and the National University of Singapore (NUS) on the occasion of the Action Month for Labour Safety and Hygiene.
NUS experts shared experience in medical workers’ role in labour accidents, occupational health situation and services, and health check-up management at workplaces.
Prof. Norbert Wagner from NUS said noise, dust, hazardous chemicals and unsafe machines in workplaces all affect workers’ health so medical workers should help devise plans to respond to emergency cases, hold training courses on first aid to workers, and raise their awareness of labour hygiene and occupational disease prevention.
He stressed the need to investigate accidents at work to help victims receive satisfactory treatment and compensation and prompt employers to take proper measures to ensure workers’ health and safety.
Doctor Gan Wee Hoe from NUS described periodic health check-up as one of the effective measures to ensure workers’ productivity.-VNA
