Vietnam will be among stopovers of a trans-national car rally to mark two decades of the India-ASEAN Dialogue Partnership.

The rally, jointly held by the Governments of India and ASEAN countries and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), kicked off in Yogyakarta city on Indonesia ’s Java island on November 26.

The 8,000-kilometer-long, 22-day journey will pass through other ASEAN countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, and end in New Delhi on December 20.

In his congratulation message, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh affirmed the spirit and social significance of the rally will help promote mutual understanding between the ASEAN and Indian people as well as consolidate connectivity between the 10-member grouping and India.

Speaking at the kick-off ceremony, Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Gurjit Singh stressed that the rally demonstrates India ’s close links with ASEAN countries.

It will create public awareness, promote connectivity, and enhance trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people links between ASEAN and India, he said.-VNA
