A technical assistance project for the national target programme on climate change resilience in transport energy has been launched.

The project, which is scheduled to end in February next year, is carried out at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, Thanh Hoa province, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang city.

The project aims to help improve capacity in plan making and building actions to cope with climate change, build and carry out a campaign to raise public awareness on climate change, and design pilot projects on mitigating greenhouse gas emission.

A workshop to launch the project was held in a Hanoi on Mar. 5 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Addressing the event, Hoang Quoc Vuong, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, stressed that proposals on climate change mitigation and resilience in the energy and transport sectors are related to space planning, including policy components, national-level regulations and components to be implemented at the provincial and city level.

ADB Country Director Tomoyuki Kimura highlighted the action plan’s importance in the transport energy field in Vietnam, especially plans to develop the national target programme on climate change resilience in Thanh Hoa, HCM City and Da Nang city.-VNA
