Tay Ninh (VNA) – A ceremony was held in the southern province of Tay Ninh’s Tan Bien district on November 7 to send off four search teams under Military Region 7, who are set to locate and repatriate the remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Cambodia during wartime as part of the 24th dry-season campaign for 2024 - 2025.
According to Colonel Thai Thanh Duc, Deputy Chief of Politics and Deputy Head of Steering Committee 515 at Military Region 7, data from various sources indicates that 606 graves are targeted for this campaign in 10 provinces across Cambodia.
Accordingly, Team K70 from Military Region 7 is set to work in Kampong Cham and Tboung Khmum provinces, Team K71 under the Tay Ninh Military Command in Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meancheay, and Siem Reap, and Team 72 under the Binh Phuoc Military Command in Kratie and Kampong Thom targeting 76, 189, and 189 graves, respectively. Meanwhile, Team K73 from the Long An Military Command is tasked with operating in Svay Rieng, Battambang and Pailin, searching for 53 graves.
At the ceremony, Lieutenant General Tran Hoai Trung, Political Commissar of Military Region 7, emphasised that the search and repatriation of soldiers' remains is a significant mandate from the Party and State and a crucial responsibility for both the military and political system.
From 2001 to 2024, the remains of more than 38,000 martyrs from Military Region 7 and of over 11,000 Vietnamese volunteers and experts who died in Cambodia have been found, repatriated, and reburied in Vietnam./.

The steering committee for the search, collection, identification of fallen soldiers’ remains (Steering Committee 515) of the southern province of Tay Ninh on November 6 signed an agreement to coordinate the search and repatriation of martyrs’ remains during the 2024–2025 dry season with the specialised committees of five provinces of Cambodia.
