By Sept. 7, tropical depression had left four people dead, nine injured and three missing in the central region and Central Highlands, reported the regional Centre for Storm and Flood Control.

Tropical depression killed two in central coastal Da Nang city and two others in central Thua Thien-Hue province. Two people were reported missing and five others were injured in central Quang Ngai province while central highlands Gia Lai province had one missing and four injured.

The disaster damaged almost 100 houses, schools and medical clinics and 11 irrigation works and swept away more than 61 tonnes of caged fish and shrimp. It submerged nearly 20,000 ha of rice and industrial crops with more than 4,300 ha in Quang Tri and 3,200 ha in Quang Nam .

Quang Nam reported its estimated loss of more than 20 billion VND.

The regional Centre for Storm and Flood Control instructed the Flood and Storm Control Steering Committees from Quang Binh to Ninh Thuan province to keep regular contacts with ships at sea to inform them of the moving directions of the tropical depression.

The committees are also instructed to evacuate people from flood-prone areas and landslides./.
